A Translation Study on Speech Acts Violating Politeness Maxim in Gerald’s Game Novel

This study focuses on how the speech acts violating politeness maxim in a novel titled Gerald’s Game are translated from English into Bahasa Indonesia. Therefore, this has three main objectives: (1) to find out types of act which could accommodate violation maxim, (2) translation techniques used translate (3) impact technique toward shift acts. adopted descriptive qualitative method. The data limited and Indonesia version Gerald's novel. compiled will be validated through Focus Group Discussion (FGD) analyzed using document analysis technique.
